From dialogue to collaboration: the WBCSD–CMPC Leadership Forum in Italy

In a rapidly changing world, building resilient businesses requires more than adapting to change. It requires connecting different perspectives and finding new ways to collaborate.

CMPC and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) brought together business leaders, executives and sustainability experts from across the pulp, paper and packaging value chain for the WBCSD–CMPC Leadership Forum near Rome, Italy.

Over two days, participants exchanged perspectives on some of the challenges shaping the future of business, including sustainable leadership, organizational resilience, evolving sustainability trends, risk management and collaboration across the value chain. Through expert insights, strategic conversations and collaborative activities, the Forum explored how sustainability and long-term thinking can help strengthen competitiveness and resilience.

A key message emerged from these conversations: complex sustainability challenges cannot be addressed in isolation.

As Nicolás Gordon, ESG Director at CMPC, reflected:

“Sustainability challenges come from many different angles. But there’s a shared feeling that we need greater collaboration, that we need to break down the barriers that have existed in our industry and work together to identify the challenges that bring us together.”

For CMPC Pulp, engaging with different perspectives across the value chain helps us broaden our understanding of the challenges shaping our industry. These insights allow us to identify opportunities to improve, anticipate evolving customer needs and find better ways to serve them.

Ultimately, building resilience means evolving together, turning shared challenges into opportunities and creating long-term value for our customers and throughout the value chain.
