CMPC strengthens innovation capabilities through renewed R&D Center in southern Chile
CMPC has reopened its Industrial Research & Development Center at Santa Fe Mill in southern Chile, reinforcing a key hub for scientific research, technological development and innovation. The renewed facility will support the creation of new solutions, strengthen collaboration across the innovation ecosystem, and help accelerate the company’s sustainability ambitions.
The project included the modernization of laboratories, the creation of collaborative workspaces, and infrastructure upgrades designed to expand research capacity and support future technological developments. These new capabilities will enable teams to further advance applied research across forestry, fiber science, and industrial processes.
By combining scientific expertise, data-driven analysis, and technological innovation, the center plays an important role in transforming renewable forest resources into high-value products and solutions for global markets.
“Here we develop knowledge, so we understand how the tree grows and how to make the forest more productive; we select genetic materials and determine how to transform that genetic material, that forest, into pulp,” said Bibiana Rubini, Innovation and Bioeconomy Director at CMPC.
Beyond strengthening our research capabilities, the renewed center will foster closer collaboration with universities, research institutions, startups and industry partners. It will also contribute to attracting and developing talent, creating opportunities for the next generation of scientists, engineers, and researchers.
With this investment, CMPC continues building the knowledge, technologies and partnerships needed to unlock new opportunities from renewable fiber and contribute to a more sustainable future.
