CMPC Pulp Commercial Management obtains ISO 9001 recertification

22 sep. 2021

In mid-August, CMPC Pulp's commercial area was recertified to the ISO 9001 standard, which involves all the elements of quality management that an organization needs in order to have an effective system for managing and improving its products and services.

The ISO 9001 standard promotes the adoption of a process approach by companies in developing, implementing, and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system to increase customer satisfaction by meeting their requirements as consumers.

CMPC Pulp's commercial area has been ISO 9001 certified since 2006, but, since the Quality Management System (QMS) is audited every year, the area undergoes an internal audit and an external audit with a certifying entity. The cycle of external audits includes 2 follow-up audits and 1 recertification audit. Specifically, this year, 2021, corresponded with a recertification audit.

According to Guilherme Viesi, CMPC Pulp’s Commercial Director, receiving its recertification means that CMPC Pulp's commercial management establishes and maintains its Quality Management System in accordance with the requirements of the standard. It also means the business has demonstrated that the capability of its system has consistently achieved the agreed requirements for products or services within the scope of its policy and objectives.

"The quality management system we have is sophisticated and fully embedded in the commercial management team," comments Guilherme. Additionally, the executive says that "among the actions taken to achieve recertification are the implementation of the FIOs (Fundamental Improvement Objectives) and the BEST program, which contributed to excellence in processes and quality management."

The teams and people involved in the approval of the audit were associates from Commercial Management, internal auditors, and management suppliers such as Supply Chain, the four mills, HR, and GTIC.
